Icons of Sound
Aesthetics and Acoustics of Hagia Sophia, Istanbul

A collaboration between Stanford University's Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics and Department of Art & Art History

This research was enabled by the Stanford Presidential Fund for Innovation in the Humanities, granted for “Icons of Sound: Architectural Psychoacoustics in Byzantium”, the Stanford Institute for Creativity and the Arts (SiCa), and with the kind permission of the AyaSofya Müzesi.

The March recording at CCRMA was sponsored in part by Countryman Associates, who provided E6 directional headset microphones to enable isolated multi-channel recording of the ensemble while in a live performance context.
